052 - Spindle
ACCESSORY used by weavers to wrap the woolen thread after its initial processing and fixation on the distaff. It was a thin cylindrical spike, at the tip of which a spindle whorl was mounted, whose weight facilitated the vertical pivotal movement and the reeling of threads. Women used to carry the distaff and the spindle with them, in case they could take advantage of their leisure time between farming activities.
